      Our Historic Building

      The Beginning

Welcome to our family-owned restaurant, proudly nestled in a historic landmark that tells a tale of resilience and community spirit. Originally the Flake Bros. Store, established in 1888 by James M. Flake and his brother Charles L. Flake, the business first operated in a small frame building on the Virgil Flake lot.

In July 1892, construction began on a two-story building. During this time, tragedy struck when Charles was killed in an outlaw confrontation, shaping the early narrative of this remarkable establishment. Despite the challenges, James persevered, and in January 1893, construction was completed. The Flake Bros. Store moved into the main level, with a welcoming social hall upstairs—supporting James and his family while honoring his brother’s memory.

      The Fire

In January 1912, a fire devastated the building, leading to its transformation into a one-story structure.

After the devastating fire of 1912, the Flake Brothers rebuilt their beloved store as a one-story building, continuing the resilience and determination that had defined the business from the very beginning. Though the original two-story structure was lost, the rebuilt storefront remained a cornerstone of the community for generations, serving local families while preserving the spirit and legacy of the historic Flake Bros. establishment.

Years later, Dean and Sandra Porter lovingly revitalized this cherished landmark, restoring the iconic two-story appearance and bringing new life back to one of the town’s most treasured historic buildings.

      Streets On Main

Over the years, this historic building has been home to many businesses that helped shape our community —including a Western Auto Supply store, a butcher shop, vintage store, and several restaurants. Each chapter has added to the rich story and character of this landmark, making it a lasting part of our town’s history.

Today, we are honored to continue that legacy. We invite you to join us in celebrating not only our delicious cuisine, but also the history and memories that live within these walls.
